Planning to drive round trip from Central PA to Woods Hole MA in the fall. Looks like rt 80 runs into NY City. Any ideas about which bridge to use or how to navigate that part?
Is there a good scenic route for the return trip? Thanks.

Stay out of NYC! I-80 east to I-81 north to I-84 just east of Scranton. I-84 all the way to Meriden CT where you get on I-91 north.
Where are you in Central PA? I used to live in Mifflinburg.
Mapquest shows me the route you suggest and also one more southerly, along the coast - but NY City is involved, then Yonkers, then southern coast CT and across RI. Have you driven that way. Maybe the CT coast is not so dazzling?
I'm in State College. Thanks.
Mystic is the nicest coastal town in CT IMO.
East of Hartford it doesn't make much difference if you go through Providence RI or stay north of RI.
Plan on 9 hours for 504 miles from State College.
Going through Yonkers (GW Bridge) will take at least 10 hours.
In my road warrior days I drove my DIL to Hartford CT to buy a car. I followed her back all the way to Mifflinburg. That was a very long day.
As you leave Falmouth at the light take a right onto Oyster Pond Rd and visit The Knob and Quisset Harbor and then take Quisset Ave into Woods Hole.
Tom,
Thanks, that's useful.
Lookin Glass,
Thanks, I'll do that. Waiting for the ferry in Woods Hole once before, had pie @ Pie In The Sky. Blue berry. With my 3 year old grand daughter who called all the flavors - appo pieee.
So, are there blue highway routes for the return trip?
