Scenic Drive to Torrey

Which drive is more scenic?

Moab to Torrey? [163-70-24]or
Blanding to Torrey? [95-24]

I realize both routes converge in Hanksville at Rt. 24 before Capitol Reef.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi woodstockguy

We drove from Blanding to Hanksville and on to Torrey in March of 2002. It was jaw dropping! I felt that this road was one of the highlights of our trip (that included snow at the Grand Canyon and Brice, stops at Zion and Captiol Reef)
Around every bend there were new vistas and a whole lot of "nothing" out there. Two great side trips too. One to Natural Bridges and the other, often overlooked, is a short drive north of Hanksville to goblin valley a remarkable place.

Have Fun

It is an even score in my opinion.
I cannot think of any reason to favor one over the other. I think seeing Natural Bridges which are near Blanding would tip the scales ever so slightly.

Moab to Torrey via Hwy 191-70-24 is only 160 miles and about 4 hours.

Moab to Torrey via Blanding & Hwy 95 & 24 is 250 miles and will talke 6 1/2 hours.

If you have plenty of time then I think the Blanding is more scenic. As everyone else has mentioned there is Natural Bridges National Monument and also Hites Crossing is pretty when the lake level is up. I have know idea what it looks like now with the Lake Powell so low but I bet it's interesting. It's something you might not see to often!

Hi Woodstockguy

We stayed at the best western Capitol Reef Resort had a suite. There was
a nice view from the porch and the out door hot tub. Cost was under $100 a night I would go back in a second.

Have fun
