Scenic Drive Austin to San Antonio

Folks,

Driving from Austin to San Antonio and I think I'd prefer a scenic drive. Recommendations, please? Will be traveling on Easter Sunday...should that make any difference?

Thanks all.

How about this? Drive down to New Braunfels. Visit Schlitterbahn? Take Rt. 46 west to Boerne. http://www.yellowpages.com/boerne-tx/restaurants
If you want German or Czech food try Little Gretel.
The Hill country is a bit more scenic than most of the rest of Texas.

When we drove through the Hill Country last December, our favorite stops were the LBJ Ranch, Fredericksburg, and a tiny town whose name I can't recall.

PS The ranch is open on Easter Sunday: http://www.nps.gov/lyjo/planyourvisit/hours.htm

If you're just looking to get off Ih35, from Austin you can head southwest to Blanco and then south to San Antonio.

Hill country, as mentioned, is quite special especially as the spring flowers may be a riot of color just now. All the small towns have something to offer so take your time. Wish i were there along on this trip!!!

Head west to Willow City and drive the Willow City Loop for masses of wildflowers in the Spring. Then head across to Enchanted Rock, down to Fredericksburg, LBJ Ranch, Boerne and into San Antonio.
