Savannah/Charleston-early March too early?
I was thinking of taking a long weekend trip to Savannah and Charleston in the very early part of March. How is the weather in early March? Are the flowers in bloom yet? Would it be better to go in the early part of May? Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Mid-March to Early-April should be the peak time for flowers. I fear early March would be just that and by May the dogwood and azaleas will be gone. Savannah is beautiful anytime of the year, but if I were making a one-time trip...I'd make it to see the city in bloom!

Early March is usually just perfect in the Charleston area. This has been a VERY mild winter and the hyacinths and other bulbs are starting to peek out, as well as a few azaleas downtown. If you wait until May it might be getting hot and muggy.
I think you might have picked the perfect time!
