Savannah Spring Bloom Timing

We have the option of being in Savannah either Mar. 12-16 or Mar. 18-22. I'm a photographer and I'd love to be there when the spring color is close to peak. Which of these 2 timeframes is looking better this year?

Thanks for your thoughts...

The azaleas are just starting. The garden tour is scheduled for their best guess for prime and it's the last week of March. I'd go for the latter dates -

The Savannah Tour of Homes and Gardens is taking place March 22 - 25 this spring and I'm assuming they time this tour to coincide with the height of the beauty in the gardens.

I just changed my profile picture to an azalea bush with one lone bloom and one visible bud. It was taken on Tuesday of this week. It's going to take some time for peak to get here.

Y'all, I dunno. My azaleas are out and it's too early. And Savannah goes a little earlier than we do here in Charleston.

But even if the azaleas have peaked, other things follow, like gardenias, jasmine, and roses. My roses usually peak mid April, but they're budding up now. Yay. So there will be beautiful flowers whenever you visit.

There was one huge glorious azalea in full bloom - but it was the only one. The photo I uploaded was taken 4 feet away. It was cold and rainy earlier this week but the rain stopped enough for me to walk pup around a couple of squares. Spring has barely sprung. I imagine they have early blooming azaleas planted at the Masters. My Savannah pics are loaded on FB for those who are FB friends. IMO it's going to be a while before peak. When will that be? That's the $64K question - but the garden tour is booked during the week that's their best guess. I still say the second week over the first - but sue is right. Something will be blooming. I took closeups of the bulbs and there was only one that had a peek of yellow budding. Just a tinge of spring showing 5 days ago.

Thanks so much everyone for your replies! It looks like Savannah Tour of Homes and Gardens is March 23-25. So, we'll go with the 2nd week and hope for great weather and blooms!
