Savannah seafood
What are some good, family priced seafood restaurants in Savannah? We're been to Pear's Elegant Pelican and it was great, and Williams, which was terrible, just looking for somewhere new to try. Has anyone been to the Crab Shack? Are their prices reasonable for a family?

I agree with you totally on Williams. Crab Shack was our favorite spot. It is better than reasonable, not fried food...an oft hard to find treat in that area.
We haven't been in two years and it had grown exponentially since we lived there, but it didn't get that poupular for no reason. I am sorry it's been found...liked the small original place better. This is the same location but it's stretched way beyond what it was originally and we can't imagine how...having seen their kitchen. Little touches send up possible red flags though...they now have flashing coasters for paging. Worrisome. If you do eat there (and I hope YOU will mz chazbubbles I hope you'll report back and let us know how it is today.

Here's something to think about: if you go to any seafood restaurant near Tybee Island, there are times of day on weekends when you will almost certainly run into massive traffic jams - I mean traffic sitting still on the highway. This happens, and then you're forced to u-turn and head back to Savannah. Many folks head to the beach and resorts, and everyone eventually gets funneled into one route.

We, Sadly enough did not have a good experience at the Crab Shack. We were so looking forward to it there since we had heard good things. We received cold and mushy food.
We hope they were just having a bad day.

I'm just back from Savannah and can really recommend the Tapas bar in City Market. Their seafood is great and with every dish costing $7 you get great value. The Sea Scallops were devine as was the Shrimp Cocktail.
Have fun! Laura

I am from Savannah. Crab Shack is wonderful. It is a shack but the atmosphere is great..that is why their slogan is "where the elite eat in their bare feet". Also Tubby's Tankhouse on river street is great for seafood, drinks, and people watching on the Savannah River....and OliveOyl..Mr. Kehoe says hello.

I hope that we just had a one time bad experience at the Crab Shack. We will try it again next year when we come down.
It is a shame because we really liked the atmosphere and were looking to have a good time.
Just wish our food was not cold and mushy.
