Sansei Restaurant in Kihei or Kapalua

Is there a difference in the food between the two and does either have an ocean view? If no ocean view is ones decor and ambience better than the other? Thanks in advance.

I can only speak to the one in Kihei. We went after dark and though it's across the road from the water (in a shopping center), I seriously doubt you could see much of it; it's not designed for views. The ambience was really awesome though, young and vibrant and sparkly with friendly service. The food was very good as well, I think we spent about $60 for two of us last July, with maybe one drink each.

love

Both are excellent. Ambience is better at Kapalua, but I would just go to whichever is closer.

On my last trip to Maui I ate twice at each. The second time I ate at the Kihei one was just to see if the first meal there had been an off night, since the Kapalua one is so great. The second time in Kihei confirmed to me that the Kapalua one far exceeds the Kihei branch not only in ambiance, but most importantly in the quality of the food.

Not to dispute Gerald's experience, but we had a fabulous meal at the Kihei Sansei a few weeks ago. We are big sushi fans, but opted for the tasting menu because it had so many intriguing fusion-style items on it. Everything was delicious and there was plenty of it. We also thought it was excellent value for the price of $65 for two.
