San Francisco - Parc 55 or Hotel G

My fiance and I are going to Sonoma and San Francisco in September. I realize now this is high season so hotel prices are pretty high. I'd rather spend the money on eating and drinking but don't want to stay in a dump. I've found rates around $200 for both the Parc 55 Wyndham and Hotel G. Any opinions on which is nicer or the better location?

sf--it's the old Hotel Frank on Geary which has/is undergoing renovations into a boutique hotel. You know, all monochronomatic color scheme, trying to be hip.

Have stayed several times at the Parc55 so I can vouch for it. Try to find a deal with parking as parking in the city can run 50.00 a night. The Parc 55 usually has deals that include parking. It is a very nice hotel with a good restaurant across the street Pinetti and Puccini or Puccini and Pinetti...Just off Market street and a couple of blocks from Powell. Never heard of Hotel G so cannot give opinion

The Hotel G is still undergoing refurbishment/redesign (at least through this summer) and is in a 'soft opening' so they have special rates. My impression is it is partially a construction zone.

I'd probably wait til they have their act totally together.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the feedback! I think we'll go with the Parc 55 since Hotel G is still under construction.
