San Francisco, Lodging Near Moscone Center

Dear Fodorites:

Can anyone recommend a nice smaller/boutique hotel or B&B within walking distance (e.g., 15 minutes or less) of the Moscone Center? I am staying for a convention in August, but do not wish to stay at one of the large, convention-rate hotels.

Thank you!

The Palomar is just a block or so away and quite nice--part of the Kimpton Group.

Try the Hotel Milano located at 5th & Mission. Recently renovated & great location for $109/king bed. Use http://www.hotelres.com/

Thanks much! I love the W hotels, and the location seems ideal. However, the cost seems a bit high, and if I can find a smaller property for around $200 or less, that would be my preference. Maybe this is not easy in SF...

Check the Argent at 4th Street near Market, not small/boutique but gets good reviews, not sure if you can get it under $200 in August.
