We are visiting San Francisco in October, and are tossed between the Maxwell ($139/nt), Diva ($140/nt), and Vintage Court ($110/nt). We wanted to stay at the Prescott, but they cannot accept 3 people in a room (we have 5 traveling nad hope to get two rooms). We want to be in the Union Square area, but want to make sure we can walk to and from our hotel at night without any problems. Any thoughts on the above hotels would be appreciated as well as any other suggestions. Thank you.
San Francisco Hotels: Maxwell, Vintage Court, Diva or what?

I have stayed at the Diva a few years ago. It had old fashioned bathrooms with cute copper wash basins - the only problem is that the room had not been cleaned well. There was a glob of toothpaste left behind the sink, one of the shiny black dressers had marks from where an earlier guest had left a glass, and the light on one of the lamps had burned out. I wondered about this - then at a later date read a review confirming my experience that they are lax about keeping the rooms really clean. I think $140 a night is alot to pay for a dirty room. I did submit a "we really want to hear about your stay" form, but never heard back from them.
