San Francisco Hotel w/ 3 kids

We are headed to San Francisco in mid-April with our 3 young teenagers. We need a clean, safe hotel, preferrably not far from fast food places. The price needs to be affordable for a family of 5 on spring break, $100-140 range.Any suggestions for this Kentucky gal? Thanks.

There is a great hotel, two blocks from Union Square..very reasonable.. I would assume you would need two rooms.. The Andrews Hotel on Post street has rooms from $92.00 for a full size bed, queen size 109.00, king sized bed 109.00 twin beds 109.00 and rollaway $10.00.. Best of all with teens Ih ave to tell you in the a.m. there is a huge buffet on each floor with bagels, rolls, scones, etc., juice, fruit, tea, coffee, hot chocolate all included.. It's an old fashioned boutique hotel that does not advertise and is always full..Reservations aren't always that easy to get.. Good luck, we have been there twice and our friends also use that hotel.. Their web site is www.andrewshotel.com

Try the Beresford Arms Hotel- it is a lovely hotel with large, comfortable, nicely appointed rooms - I stay there frequently. Additionally, the staff is very pleasant and helpful. They have continental breakfast and a wine hour (with cookie and tea/soft drinks for the kids) It is close to Union Square, and they have a website:

The Andrews is indeed a nice place , however their prices , like most places in SF , have gone up considerably this year. With tax , rooms for TWO start at about $145. You will not have many options for five of you and stay under $140 especially with our heavy hotel tax. With out knowing your "standards" this is sometimes tricky , but there is a curious place you might look at as it would keep you within your budget when you consider that both a breakfast buffet AND a dinner buffet is included in the price. The Ansonia Abby is an older hotel built just after the earthquake that caters to primarily foriegn students and buisness men here for extended stays. Great location several blocks off Union Square on Post street. Definitely older and "lived in" but very clean. Very interesting mix of travellers, students and buisness people staying here. They do have two room suites. www.ansonia.citysearch.com. As long as you aren't expecting the Hilton or Marriot or anything in the "boutique" sense this is one of the best values you are going to find that will keep you near your budget , especially when you consider the meals , which are not gourmet but there are fast food places around you could fall back on. This place is very popular and books up far in advance so I would check soon. Good luck.

We are a Mom & Dad going up to San Fran to see our son in school. Has anyone heard of the Mary Elizabeth Inn of Bush st, OR Balmoral Residence Club, OR Mayflower Hotel Apt...all are on Bush St which is close to where our son is staying.
