San Francisco airport transportation

My friend and I will be arriving in November. We will have a car but do not want to drive into the city and park. What is transportation like from the airport hotels to downtown? Or shuld we stay at Pacific Heigts Inn which is close to the city, but 50/50 on reviews?

If you are visiting San Francisco you should stay center city. It makes no sense to rent a car and stay outside the city - a complete waste of time and money. Go stay downtown and don;t pick up the rental car until you leave SF.

We stayed at the Pacific Heights Inn some years ago--it was o.k, but we weren't inspired to return. There are other options with free parking in the same price range that may be a little better in some ways--Cow Hollow Motor Inn, for instance.

Pacific Heights Inn is in the city at 1555 Union Street, which has great shopping and restaurants--it's about 1.5 miles from Union Square and about a miles from North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf.

Thank you for your replies. The car is free as we work for a rental car company. Booked at the Travelodge in the Marina area. Free parking with bus stops close by. Reviews appear to be decent.

if you're basing your stay on having a car you are really going to be disappointed. The TL is on a noisy street with traffic AT ALL HOURS.

If the car is free anyway why not reject it and stay somewhere nice?

Trust mztery. If I had known you were considering Travelodge, I wouldn't have said anything that might dissuade you from considering Pacific Heights Inn.
