San Fran

If you only had one night in San Fran, where would you stay and eat? I'm traveling with someone who has never been to San Fran so I was thinking Nob Hill but I also haven't been there in 10 years.
Don't really have a budget but nothing too outrageous.

Thanks!

"nothing too outrageous" means how many $, please. Nob Hill will not be inexpensive, as that means the Fairmont, Huntington, or Mark Hopkins.

It's San Francisco or SF, BTW.

Ditto what Janet said. But then, I would never recommend the Nob Hill hotels to visitors -when I walk out the door of my hotel in any city, I prefer to be "there" rather than having to hop on transportation to GET "there". To add to what is great about the Embarcadero location (I work next door to the Hyatt) - the Ferry Building is a great visit (and The Slanted Dior in the Ferry Bldg is one f the excellent restaurants in the area) and just the walking along the Embarcadero is a treat, especially if the weather is good. If you have more time during the day, Chinatown and Cout Tower aren't far.

I"d also vote for the Embarcadero, or Union Sq. Some place walkable. or close to public transportation.
