San Diego Update
Hi from Alaska. Looking for TahitiTams and Barbara. What's the latest on Diane Powers & the new bazaar & renovation of the old police headquarters building? Have they started on the project? Lordly I hope it didn't die. Anyway we are coming to San Diego for a visit this April. We will enjoy ourselves but it sure won't be the same without Casa de Bandini. Thanks.

Thanks Barbara. I kept looking for info & it appears that the renovation of the old police hqs bldg, park, & bazaar has hit a roadblock of some sort - just no info at all. I brought up Casa de Bandini on the internet & they are in the process of seeking a location to get re-established so apparently the bazaar deal with Diane Powers is terminated.

Hi Shea..
Great to hear from you!
Like Barbara stated that nothing is happening and I wonder if it ever will.
I have found a wonderful restaurant in Escondido that reminds me of Casa de Bandini but in a local version and the food is outstanding and well worth a trip up the I-15..
Hacienda de Vega is probably one of the best finds that we have found in SD in along time!
Where are you staying in SD?
Best to you!

Hi TahitiTams. Thanks for the info. Are you from Tahiti? That was a place I dreamed of going when I was a young guy but never made it.
It's been awhile since we visited the Wild Animal Park so we may just go there on this visit & will certainly consider the restaurant in Escondido. Of course due to the drive it can only be a one margarita meal.
We will check out Hacienda de Vega. I will bring it up on the web to get its location, etc. Really enjoy outdoor seating during the day under the warm sun & evening under the stars. We don't have much of that sort of thing up here in Alaska.
We are creatures of habit. We have always stayed at the Bay Club Hotel & Marina on Shelter Island. It's a beautiful & quiet area. Only one time we stayed somewhere else. My wife had a conference one time on Coronado Island. I believe it was a Marriott but I am not sure, it's been sometime ago. It was alright but we always gravitate back to Shelter Island.
Both you & Barbara are great with information on San Diego. Thanks again.

Hi Shea,
I was married in Moorea, Tahiti and have a real love of the islands so hence the screen name..
I love the Bay Club on Shelter Island.
Have you tried the Brigantine on Shelter Island for Happy Hour and the best Fish Tacos for $3 and they are outstanding! Great Marg's too..
Also, Point Loma Seafoods is down the street too.
I am sure you have been to Cabrillo National Monument but if you haven't it is a must..
If you are going to the SD Wild Animal Park, Hacienda de Vega is the next exit and right off the freeway. It is the closest thing to Casa de Bandini but the food is way better!
Love taking the water taxi around the bay to Coronado.
Take in a game at Petco Park to see our Padres baseball..great ballpark!
Best to you Shea!
