San Diego best area
My husband and I are going to San Diego in May. Has anyone stayed in Mission Valley, not Bay? We want a hotel under $200 a night. We like to walk to restaurants and wonder if downtown is a better place to stay. Is parking a problem? We will have a car

The last few visits I've made, I've stayed downtown. It is convenient to so many things, including Gaslamp District, the Harbor Cruise, Seaport Village, the ferry to Coronado, etc. We used the car to visit La Jolla and Pt. Loma. There are many nice hotels in one small area--Hyatt Regency, Marriott, a new Hilton, Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn, and many more. Do some research and you can probably find a good deal. I go on weekends, and have in the past found good weekend prices. Good luck.

Mission Valley has a number of hotels in your price range. You need a car to go places from there. Downtown will cost you more but it will allow you to walk to many fine restaurants and San Diego attractions. I think downtown is best for you. Note: some people will refer to downtown as the gaslamp area. The gaslamp is located downtown and is a popular place for nightime activity for locals and tourists alike.
