san diego accmodations

Can anyone suggest a decent reasonably priced place to stay in San Diego? I am considering the Empress Hotel or The Ramada near the Gaslamp District. They are both around 100-125 dollars...

I've stayed at the Ramada in Old Town (Lamplight dist. It was okay buy sooo tiny!!! When you opened up you door it hit the double bed! The shower was only a shower stall. Tiniest room (and bathroom) I've ever seen. I saw a pretty big embassy suites nearby.

Just stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites right at the exit of Interstate 8 & Rosecrans Ave. for $96/night. We had a large room with frige, microwave & wetbar & small balcony. Continental breakfast was included and was very nice. It was convenient to Old Town (3 miles), the Zoo (6 miles) and Mission Bay (3 miles). We walked around the Gaslamp District and were NOT impressed. Lots of homeless around.

Yes the Ramada old town is small but a great location. Also economical. Sounds like poster was seeking cheap accomodations. I think I paid $69.00 a night. I know it is a no frills place.

Actually, we are going in June...I bought an Entertainment Book and have 2 rooms booked (can't decide which). One is the Comfort Inn Seaworld area. I have a rate of $110/night for a family suite with kitchette and expanded cont. breakfast included. The other is for the Coronado Beach Resort. I have a rate of $135/night for a 1 bedroom condo with kitchenette. With that, they have a hot tub but no pool. It does include privledges at the Coronado Bay Resort to use their pools.
