I need a place to stay in or near Jackson, MS on 6/9/06. I have been reading scary reviews of crimes occurring in or near many of the hotels. I am willing to stay outside of Jackson, but not more than 1 hour away, if possible. I am looking to spend under $100 a night (a lot less if possible). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Restos in Boca Raton

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Jackson-North off I 55 at Briarwood Drive and felt perfectly safe there. $88.66 per night.
I've just seen this post and may be too late. There have been a few muggings in Jackson lately not far from the Briarwood location mentioned above. If you just need a basic hotel, nothing unique or special, you might check locations in Madison, Ridgeland, Flowood, or Clinton, which are all in the area immediately surrounding Jackson.
