Safe neighborhood near AA in Dallas

Can anyone recommend a moderate hotel close to American Airline Arena that would be safe to walk around?

There really isn't anyting to walk to in that area. You might pick a hotel in N. Dallas or downtown or by the Galleria.

The only hotel that is within walking distance to the AA Arena is the W Dallas.

P.S. it is safe to walk around in the Victory Park area (ie where W and AA Arena is).

Hyatt Summerfield Suites at 2914 Harry Hines is a two block walk from AA. The hotel is also a modest walk to Uptown with many restaurants. The area is very safe.
The Stoneleigh, a newly remodeled historic hotel is another two blocks, but still walkable to AA. Stoneleigh will be pricier than the Summerfield.

The Crescent Hotel is about half a mile to the AA center, and Palomino restaurant often has free shuttles for events. I would not stay in north Dallas for an event downtown, makes no sense.

Marriott Suites is a fine hotel with a great staff. It's about 3 miles from AA, definitely not a walk. The nearest restaurant district is the Uptown or Oaklawn area.

I usually stay at the Anatole which is couple blocks across the freeway from the Marriott Suites. We go to the bar at the Melrose, lots of m/s from the HP and UP parts of town, few Bentleys dont ya know. Then sache down Cedar Springs for a little chicken fried steak a la Black Eyed Pea.

The Fairmont Dallas is within walking distance of the AA--about a 10 min walk. We used to do it all the time with no problem.

The W is also right across from the AA.

I'd stay uptown. The Summerfield is fine, if you want something moderate.
I hate the whole Market Center area... it is pretty nasty.
