S. Lake Tahoe accomodations

Any recommendations among S. Lake Tahoe lodgings? Looking at Best Western Station House Inn, Timber Cove, Embassy Suites (much pricier, but rated highly...worth the money?), Forest Inn Suites, Inn by the Lake, and B.W. Timber Cove. Horizon Casino has good rates, but not sure I want to deal witha large facility.

Harrahs, Harvey's, and Caesars are all worth considering.

I was trying to avoid the casinos themselves, yet still be close enough to easily get to the nightlife. Plus the rates were more reasonable at most of the locations I listed.

!2 years ago, we went there in the Havenly Vallet time share. Loved the week and always wanted to go back. When we were there then, we spent alot of time at the Lakeside Casino.

So, now, happily, we are going back. and are staying at the Lakeside.

Very reasonable and has a casino. I think it is the best value. The big casinos, also, have the big prices.

Embassy would be my HOTEL choice but all over, I'm staying with Lakeside.

They have a website-Lakesideinn.com.

Thanks. I will look at their website. Still interested in feedback from Embassy Suites vs. Station House Inn vs. Forest Suites, etc.

philsbert1: I would also recommend looking into the casino/hotels. Often times they have deals on the rooms because they make their money in the gaming, which allows them to keep the room rates lower. Room rates are typically lower during the week. I just checked the Harrahs Lake Tahoe website and they have rooms during the week for as low as $59.

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at their website, though, and rates are ~$159/night at Harrah's, and that's weekdays. Perhaps it's just the timing...I'm going to be in Tahoe mid July. The pricing is such that Embassy Suites is just a little $ > Harrah's > Best Western > Forest Suites > Best Western Station House > Best Western Timber Cove, with the range being $199/night to $100/night, all weekdays.

Also figured the properties off the casinos would be a little quieter, though not as much opportunity for a "view" from the high rises.
