RV camping near Yosemite NP
Dear all
I want to visit Yosemite NP in the beginning op June with a RV. All the campgrounds in the park are already booked. They do have a first come, first serve though. Can I take the risk and go for that or will the chance be real that I won't have any available spot?
If so, is there a campsite nearby that anyone can advice? Not to far outside the park.
Thank you so much!

Your own RV or a rental? I ask because, renting a car and staying in the Valley or El Portal would be cheaper/easier than using an RV.
Of course that doesn't apply if you own the RV . . .
If that is the case this is probably your best bet http://indianflatrvpark.com

Dear Janisj
It'll be a rental RV. Would you advise us not to rent one? We are with 2 people and want to travel from San Francisco via Las Vegas to Denver and visit many National Parks along the way.
I saw that hotels are also not that cheap either and you need to book in advance. We want to be flexible during the road trip.
Pitty, but Indian Flat is already fully booked.

The trouble is that I don't think an RV really allows you to be flexible. At least in the places you're talking about. First come first serve is always a risk, and more of a risk if you need a certain size spot. The stuff you can reserve ahead of time can sell out 6 months in advance- places like Yosemite, those camping sites sell out pretty much the second they open to the public.
Reserve everything ahead of time, or be willing to pay lots of money for a hotel if you roll in and don't get a first come first serve. There are budget options around Yosemite- motels in el portal, or even cheaper, the KOA at midpines and the Yosemite bug hostel also at midpines. I looked at both the KOA and the bug, and chose the bug. I really liked it, but it's an hour outside of the Valley. So my preference would be to spend extra for lodging in the valley or el portal if at all possible. There was nothing in el Portal, and I couldn't justify the tents cabins in the valley...but if I did it again, with the intention of actually seeing Yosemite, I'd spend that extra money for Valley lodging, if I couldn't get a campsite.
