Rte 50 from Sacramento to South Lake Taho and Rte 395 to Yosemite Village
We will be driving from Sacramento to South Lake Tahoe and from South Lake Tahoe to Yosemite Village (Inn at the Falls). around June 3 to June 6. I am planning on using Routes 50 from Sacramento to South Lake Tahoe and Route 395 from South Lake Tahoe to Yosemite Village.
I would like to know if those are my best choices and any concerns that we should be aware of.

Tioga Pass from 395 to Yosemite Village may not be open. Check road conditions. Although it is May, they still predict snow flurries this weekend in the Sierra.
You should map out a plan B.
Good luck,

The Sierras had a record snowfall and earlier this spring the snowpack was 178% above normal. As of May 13, the snowplows on Tioga road had gone to the 8,000 foot level, near White Wolf. They are plowing through ten feet of snow there and have a long way to go.
I would not count on it being open by June 3. It is a nice drive down Highway 49, the west side route from Tahoe to Yosemite.

The only problem with that route is that Tioga Pass on Hwy 120 may still be closed. We've had a lot of snow this year and are actually expecting snow in the Sierras this weekend. You could take 50 or 88 out of Tahoe to 49 and either enter the park on 120 or 140 on the west side of the park.
Enjoy your trip..It's beautiful.

The old Gold Rush towns of Placerville, Jackson, Angels Camp, Sutter Creek and Columbia along Highway 49 make for nice places to visit. Also out of Plymouth in Amador County and Placerville you'll find interesting wine country. A lot less known that Napa, etc but good wines.

You may wish to check up on road conditions: http://www.way2tahoe.com/
It might snow this weekend so it may delay the project.
boom_boom....some VERY good wines. ;-)

As everyone has mentioned, Tioga Pass will probably still be closed but you can watch here to see if it's still closed http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/conditions.htm
Other passes you can consider are Carson Pass Hwy 88 which is open now. Sonora Pass Hwy 108 and Ebbetts Pass Hwy 4 which are both currently closed. You can check here for when they open: http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/clsdlst.htm

Note Kal's post above. Snow is expected for the next several days and rain after that. (may even affect the Tour of California - stage 1 is supposed to be around Lake Tahoe tomorrow)
CCMyers (the contractor) is famous for finishing major projects ahead of schedule, but the hwy 50 job very likely will be delayed. So worst case -- hwy 50 will still be closed on June 3.
Tioga Pass almost certainly will still be closed until at least the middle of June - possibly much longer.
