Royal Sonesta vs Omni Royal
I have reservations at both. $70 more for 3 nights at RS. Questions: 1) Have queen rooms at Omni & concerned after reading posts that rooms may be too small, reservation at RS is for king bed rooms. Is there a big difference in room sizes between the 2? 2)Is there a hot tub at either? Pools comparable? 3)Gym: Both list having them, how big are they? How much equiptment? There is a group of us and we will probably work out together. Some hotels idea of a gym is 1 treadmill and 1 bike. Any idea on what quantity of cardio equiptment? Thanks

I just stayed at the Omni and while my room was small, I really liked the hotel. It is very clean and the staff is great. I think but I am really unsure that the Royal Sonesta is on Bourbon and I thought thank God we are not staying there!!! Nola and K Pauls is around the corner of the Omni and while I was disappointed in Nola, K Pauls was amazing!!!!! Enjoy!

I stayed at the Royal Sonesta a few years ago and absolutely loved it! The king room was spacious, even by NO standards and the back of our room opened up (with French doors) to overlook the courtyard/pool areas. Even though this hotel is on Bourbon, I never knew it unless I went out the front doors of the hotel. My room was so quiet and so was the pool area and courtyard. You will not hear the noise of Bourban while staying here. The pool is also very nice, by the way. The location is good b/c you can easily walk to anywhere in the quarter and can quickly get off Bourbon street by turning at one of the corner streets beside the hotel.

These are both great hotels and you won't go wrong with either. Though I haven't stayed at the Omni I've heard that some of the rooms can be quite small. If you opt for the Royal Sonesta, be sure and ask for a room overlooking the pool/courtyard and not one overlooking Bourbon - unless you want to be up until the wee hours of the morning!

I agree with Susan. Both are nice, charming hotels. The Omni has some small rooms, for sure, and the Sonesta has some very loud rooms. Those would be the major drawbacks of each hotel. As for gyms, both have small fitness centers but nothing I would call a "gym." However, for a minimal fee you can go to Downtown Fitness Center, which has 3-4 locations within walking distance.
