We have never been to Maine and are planning a full three day visit with a base in
Bar Harbour. We will rent a car there for a drive up the coast. I love tscenic photography and one purpose of this visit would be to get there when there are rough tides. We can be flexible, so anytime in Sept, Oct, Nov, and with a car we should be able to get to anywhere along the coast. with the roughest tide. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lee

The Scoodic Peninsula part of Acadia is known for this, but the very best opportunities would occur when there is a big storm out a sea. Not sure if you can be THAT flexible!

Just curious, but how are you getting to Bar Harbor itself without a car?
You won't have any trouble finding rocky coast. Drive to the end of pretty much any road. The Bay of Fundy, I think, has the most extreme tides in the world, so you should find plenty of action there.
If you were staying for a week or more, you would almost certainly have a storm. Pray for an offshore hurricane during October, which is the best month to go anywhere in New England.
Finally, be careful on the rocks.
Thanks for the replies, they help. We will be flying non-stop from Atl to Bangor in the morning, picking up the rental car there and driving to Bar Harbor or nearby area for 4 nights. The Arcadia National Park area will take up the first day and a half at least. While I would love to see the high and low tides along the NW coast of N.S and the Alma area. However the drive of approx., 7+ hours one way is just a little long. I will consider spending one night in that area, otherwise, we'll spend the time between Bar Harbor and the canadian border. Don't want to get too rushed.
Thanks for the info on the Scoodic Peninsula area, and the off shore hurrican idea. I will plan for the last week of Sept or the first week of Oct and keep an eye out for the forecast for that area. I don't believe I need to make flight or hotel reservations very far in advance and might be able to time the visit. If not thats ok too.
Thanks
