As for restaurants- Victoria's is a great place to check out- great food for good prices, almost like "family style"- you could order one platter for two people to share (or if you're like me and my boyfriend, we each get two to have leftovers!) http://www.victoriasmn.com/
Another good place is Chester's. Great food! http://www.chesterskb.com/
There is a "square" area that is directly off of the Mayo Clinic's Gonda building that is nice to walk around and check out shops that are in the area. In my opinion, Mayo is like it's own little world, complete with shops (if you go down a level from the Gonda building) and restaurants.
Hope this helps!
