Dh & I have stayed there several times and love it! You really can't beat the location. Try to get an interior courtyard room and you won't even realize you are on Bourbon St. The rooftop pool is nice as well. Any other questions, let me know - it is one of our favorite places!

I have stayed there and loved it each time! Balcony rooms are great if you want to enjoy the nightlife on Bourbon like for Mardi Gras, holidays, big football weekends. Courtyard rooms are surprisingly quiet considering you're on Bourbon.

Yes! We actually lived in it for a few weeks while we were waiting for our house to be ready! (My husband worked for Sonesta at the time).
It's a lovely hotel right in the heart of things and although elegant, even our kids loved it. (We did have one of the pool rooms, a 2 story suite with walk out to the pool--what's not to love!) It is right in the midst of everything in the Quarter as opposed to the Hilton, a humongous convention hotel, which, while close and right next to it, I do not consider to be actually in the Quarter.
I honestly don't think you want to be walking back and forth into the Quarter with a little one. There is so much walking there anyway, you'll find you'll have two very tired little legs before you know it!

I stayed at the Hilton for a couple days on a business trip - it definitely wouldn't be my choice for a hotel if I were choosing. The hotel is fine - nicely appointed, great staff, the whole bit, but it is a walk into the FQ, and the first couple blocks after you pass Canal Street aren't my favorite parts of the FQ anyway. When my husband and I were there a couple weeks ago (stayed at the Place d'Armes near Jackson Square), we walked over basically to the Hilton - once to Mother's on Poydras and once to the ferry terminal to Algiers, which is right there by the Hilton - and it was a significant walk.

Thank you all for your feedback! I just went to Expedia and booked a room for mid July for $76 a night and the roll away bed for my son is free. The Hilton was going to charge $25 a night for the roll away. I'll let you know how it is when we return.

My husband and I just stayed there the last week of June. It was our first trip to NO and we loved the hotel. Our first night there we ate at KPAUL's and we were in bed by 9pm (had been at a loong weekend party before we arrived!!) Our room was on Bourbon and we slept fine...loved the balcony on Bourbon.
