Hi All - A friend and I will be driving from Phoenix to Orlando, dropping off a car then flying back to Phoenix. We want to make this trip as much fun as possible, eat some great food, and see some interesting things along the way. We leave on May 22 and need to fly home Sunday June 1, 2014. While I enjoy all things nature, my friend not so much, though she will do some hiking and exploring would like to have a broader experience. We would like to experience local culture and food along the way. Two must dos are a day at Harry Potter World and a day at one of the Disney properties. We are happy to bypass New Orleans as we both have visited there in the past. We also do not feel the need to visit anything in Arizona as we live here! I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions! Age wise we are adults with grown children - in great health with no mobility issues or restrictions. .

We have just returned yesterday from a contract car delivery from Phoenix to Toronto. We travelled along I-40 through Santa Fe, Amarillo, Little Rock and Memphis. Then we headed north through Kentucky. We stopped to see Graceland. Also a few other less important stops to see other sites and a few long lost friends. We tried to have one intense day of driving, then a few much shorter driving days. The Mississippi River offers loads of history wherever you choose to cross it. Always something to do there.

Are you driving a friend's car or through a company? If it is a company, would you be willing to share the name and how you feel about doing business with them? We are always interested in new experiences.

Are you planning to drive through north central New Mexico (Albuquerque on I-40 and Santa Fe about an hour north), or southern New Mexico?

Hi all! Thank you for the responses. Lee Ann we are planning a southern route. tC we are dropping my friend's car to her daughter - no company commission. Ideas we are tossing about are a day at the beach, not sure if Alabama or Florida would be nicer. There is a Marriott Resort up higher on the Alabama Gulf and others right on the beach - anyone want to weigh in on those? We won't be bringing beach chairs or umbrellas with us, so a hotel that has then would be best.
I saw that one can spend the night in a plantation, any thoughts on Nottoway over any other?
I am going to look up San Antonio and Biloxi and see how they fit in, thank you Tom and Vic.
Here are thoughts I'd love input on;
Is one day enough to drive to Big Bend Natl Park? Is Texas Hill country worth the drive? Friedricksburg over New Brunsfeld? Las Cruces vs Alamogordo ?
There are so many options, and I appreciate you all helping us to narrow them down!

Las Cruces; Alamogordo is OK, but there isn't much there. If you have time to stop at Carlsbad Caverns, it's definitely worth it.
