Road Trip to Pittsburgh and Cleveland - feedback requested

4 of us are going to be taking another baseball trip next June. All early 30s and willing to try anything.

Friday June 4
Drive from Hartford to Citi Field for the Marlins @ Mets Game (7:05 game)
Drive out of NYC and stay someplace on our way to Pittsburgh. Probably no more than an hour out of NYC.

Sat June 5
Drive to Pittsburgh
Google has NYC to Pittsburgh as a 6 hour drive which is what I expected. We would leave ~ 8 am.
Duquesne Incline
Primanti Bros for late lunch.
Giants @ Pirates Game (assuming 7:05 game)
Hotel: Hilton Pittsburgh

Sun June 6
Probably do something around the Point in the morning or downtown. Not much of an Andy Warhol fan but the museum is a possibility.
Giants @ Pirates Game (assuming 2:05 game)
Drive to Canton, OH after the game.
Hotel: La Quinta Canton

Mon June 7
Football HOF
Drive to Cleveland
Red Sox @ Indians
Hotel: Hampton Inn Cleveland Downtown

Tues June 8
Cleveland Zoo
Red Sox @ Indians

Wed June 9
R&R HOF
Red Sox @ Indians

Thurs June 10
Red Sox @ Indians (I am assuming this is a travel day so a 1:05 game but it could be 7:05 too)
Drive partway home. May look into stopping at Niagara Falls on the way home for part of the day on Friday.

How is public transportation in Cleveland?

What are other must-sees in Cleveland? I will admit I have not bought a guidebook yet. Would like to do a cruise or something on the Lake. We may not end up going to all of the games in Cleveland but will try to be at a bar to watch them
What about our hotel selection? We can change them. I almost have enough miles for 1 free night at a Hilton so I may use that for the night in Pittsburgh. Would have to buy some miles but definitely cheaper than the night rate.

Do you see any thing out of whack with our proposed itinerary besides a lot of baseball?

While in Pittsburgh: if you're not that drawn to the Warhol museum, consider going Oakland instead. They have preserved home plate of the original Forbes field, under glass in the lobby of one of the U Pitt. university buildings (Posvar Hall). You can also go to the top of the Cathedral of Learning and imagine you are looking down on the field like they did back in the day. If you have to go to a museum, the natural history and art museums are nearby.

Another idea for that morning is to stroll around the Strip (Wholesale) District and sample the foods from many lands.

I don't see anything out of whack because you can never watch TOO MUCH baseball!!

It could take 7 hours to get to Pittsburgh so maybe lunch in Philly (cheesesteaks?) instead & then on to Pitt & Primanti for dinner before the Game?

Next day, breakfast at DeLuca's and then maybe an early dinner at Minutello's before the game? I think you should go to the Cathedral of Learning also. The Nationality Rooms are great & are Museums in & of themselves. I was not too impressed with the Carnegie Museums.

R&R HOF in Cleveland is great. Luchita's is a good Mexican restaurant. Stay right downtown (as close to HOF as possible).

In lieu of the Zoo I would likely opt for the Rock & Roll HOF. An hour west of Cleveland you can access Put-in-Bay &/or Kelley's Island. I prefer the latter. www.kelleysisland.com, www.rockhall.com, www.cleveland.com & you'll likely need your car, public transport is not the best.

Loved the Heinz History Museum in the Pitt. Western PA Sports Museum is an exhibit and was so nice.

Near the Original Primanti's in The Strip.

Nice Italian restaurant right at PNC Park by the Roberto Clemente Bridge and statue. Atria's I believe?

Jerome Bettis' resto a short walk towards Heinz Field.
Decent grub and more sports stuff.

We stayed at the Hilton for the NFL Season Opener in Sept and had a fantastic view of The Point St Park and the "Three Rivers".

If you like to walk and love views, thake the incline that is located at Station Square then walk up to Grandview and come back down the othr incline.
Awesome views and some very interesting houses up there.

We are definitely planning on the Rock Hall on Wed. Will look at Put-in-Bay &/or Kelley's Island.

The Inclines are definitely top of our list for Pittsburgh.

Thanks for all the restaurant locations. Making me hungry just reading them.
