Since the only thing you've mentioned as an interest is food in your 2 posts about Maine, I'd suggest Portland.

Maine is simply beautiful and while it would take about twice as long as a trip to Portland, I suggest driving up to Bar Harbor. Good food, pretty town, stunning views. You could then visit Acadia National Park which is really worth seeing. It really depends on how much you want to drive and see.

google bests lobster rolls to see which lobster shack appeals to you. Although there are lots of options, staying in Portland would give you the most choices. Googlemaps shows best route is via Rt 101 Manchester to Portsmouth and then north on I95. Should you decide to take a lunch break in Concord NH, there's some good choices on Main Street or my favorite In A Pinch Café. Get a whoopie pie at Crust an Crumb so you can compare with the ones at Two Fat Cats Bakery in Portland. Concord also has two choices for homemade ice cream: Arnie's on Loudon Road or Granite State Candy on Warren Street.

Rt 4 east is a more scenic choice than Rt 101. If you need a stop for Asian groceries, Los Seafood near Fox Run Mall is small but packed with good stuff.

You probably want to skip Kittery Outlet Malls but it's fun to visit Stonewall Kitchens and When Pigs Fly Bakery for samples. Probably best for trip home. You can freeze the bread when you get home. Lots of free samples at both places.

You can take a food tour of the Old Port Area. It wasn't my favorite but gives you a good overview and samples. Bite Into Maine food truck is parked in South Portland at Fort Williams Park. Great place to picnic (bring bag chairs) with view looking out on Casco Bay. Thought their blueberry and corn salad was tasty. They also have Maine Roots soda which is very good. Get the sampler dish at MDI ice cream in Old Port Area AFTER you get some free tastes. I decided I didn't like ice cream with hot stuff in it. First lick is good but then, ack. You can sit in a little park at the top of the hill/cross street to enjoy the ice cream.

There's some very good food trips to Portland posted on chowhound's Northern New England.

Thank you so much for direct details of everything especially the food trails..my wife and I are foodies. The Asian grocery was a eye opener for her since she is originally from the Philipines. Thanks again Bobby
