Road Trip Itinerary Help

I will be having a European visitor who wants to see part of the American south, particularly Memphis and Nashville. We have about five days and will be leaving from northern Indiana for our road trip. I am thinking as we drive south in Indiana to stop at some covered bridges and head into Kentucky. I am wondering if Mammoth Cave and Bowling Green are worth a stop on the way down to Memphis. I personally am interested in visiting Vicksburg and Natchez but I don't know if we will have the time. My visitor wants to spend at least a day in Nashville before heading back up to northern Indiana. I am actively seeing suggestions for places to sleep, eat, and attractions worth visiting. Thank you!

Why not stop in the Shaker village at Pleasant Hill--that is a bit of Americana that is not seen. Obviously he's interested in music so be sure to arrange a tour of Grand Ole Opry. Not sure what is in Bowling Green. Mammoth Cave is "interesting".
