Road trip from Dallas FL to Miami FL
We are planning for a road trip from Dallas TX to Miami FL. We live in San Jose CA. Brother has a graduation in Dallas on 19th Dec, we plan to start driving on Dec 20 and planning to fly back to San Jose on Dec 31 late evening. We are thinking about one way rental from Dallas to Jacksonville FL. So we have Dec 20 to Dec 31 and want to know about places to see and stay, since we are 5 (adults, no kids) i guess makes sense for us to drive. Current rates for one way rental from dallas to FL are about $1000 too. Any suggestions about to how to make this trip memorable would be great!

First - If are you plan on turning in your rental car in Jacksonville how are you planning to get Miami for your flight home? FYI - Jacksonville is about 350 miles from Miami.
How long are you willing to drive each day before stopping?
How long a layover are you anticipating at each stopover point?
Are you willing to take a less than direct route between Dallas and Jacksonville (or Miami as the case may be) in order to visit a particular area or town?
What type of things interest you and those in your group?
If you are willing to drive up to 7 to 8 hours in each "leg" one suggestion to make you first stop in New Orleans for a day or two. Then if your final destination is Miami (not Jacksonville) make your second stop St. Augustine for another day or two. From there you can make your way to Cape Canaveral to visit the Space Center for a day. You can then go to Daytona Beach or if you don't mind "crossing the state" drive over to Tampa St. Petersburg for another day or two. You can then drive down to the Naples area for another day or so before finishing up in Miami.
Hint: use Google Maps to plan out stops & route - it will give you a good feel for driving times & distances.
