I went to Hawaii last October. One night in Waikiki, two nights at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel ($75 + tax on PL, $15 parking). Here are the pictures of the trip. Basically went around the whole Big Island, including to the summit of Mauna Kea - lots of pics there. Enjoy:

Red rocks rock!

Your pictures are beautiful! The northern area of the Big Island (with the horses and cows) is my home base.
I can't believe you did all that in three days! As long as you are in an adventurous spirit, rather than a relaxing mood, it's all quite exhilarating.
Nice photos. The Hapuna Beach Prince is my favorite Big Island hotel, the best combination of price, location and accommodations. Haven't been up to the Mauna Kea summit for over 25 years, your pictures brought back great memories.
Nice pics.
Raymond, The photos are beautiful
Great to see the diversity; you were really busy!
Kailani - It was my first time to the Big Island, and I didn't realize it's so diverse with so much to see. I was planning for a fairly relax trip but ended up with an adventurous one. I may also be the first tourist to HI that drove over 400 miles in 2 days in a rental car.
I love your pictures!
Your pictures are beautiful -- when I look at them it makes me want to go back to the Big Island!
Thanks for all the comments. I realize it's best to be eating fresh pineapple when looking at that album.
Goodness gracious, what gorgeous pix! And goodness gracious, in 2 days you covered more on the Big Island than we did in 8 days!!
Great pics Ray! You should have let us know you were coming we could have had a gtg. Did you get to see the green flash at sunset in the Kona sunset pics? Some fresh Maui pineapple sounds good right about now......
Aloha!
ht - No, didn't see any green flash at sunset. What is that about?
You live in Honolulu, right? Initially, I was planning to arrive at HNL late in the evening and then fly to Kona next morning. But I was able to change my flight for $25 to an earlier one. That was why I had some time walking around Waikiki. I didn't think about calling anybody.
Ray, Green flashes occur at sunrise and sunset just as the last piece of sun rises or sets over an unobstructed ocean. Many photographers have captured the event and I wondered if that is what you were doing in the Kona sunset pics. Kona is a great place to watch a sunset for the green flash.

Yes we are in HNL. Give us a holler next time your in town!
Aloha!
ht - Ha, I was just happy to see the sun set at Hapuna Beach that day. I also got into the water for a few minutes. But the wave was pretty strong and the hotel's attendant asked me to be really careful, and he went off-duty at sunset.
Wonderful photos Raymond. Your photos of the BI remind me of my honeymoon. It's too bad you were only there for a few nights.
I keep coming back to look at your pictures, Raymond, and I want to add that the pictures of Honolulu are also spectacular, and convey the sense of energy, enthusiasm, delight in daily life that I feel on Oahu.
Kailani - Thanks again.
bmanh - Nah, I'll be back to Big Island for sure. Hopefully for honeymoon... lol! And I'll stay for much longer then.
