We'll be in RI the beginning of December and want to either see the Festival of Lights or the Festival of Trees. Which is better?
RI - which is better? Festival of Lights or Festival of Trees?

Which Festival of Lights? Wickford? Newport? and not sure of Festival of Trees....more info. might shed some light on the matter.
Isn't Hanukkah the festival of lights and Christmas the festival of trees?
Festival of Lights - Wickford
The charm of this historic colonial village comes alive as thousands of beautiful white lights transform it into a winter wonderland. A tree lighting, window decorating contest, hayrides, music and entertainment will be a part of the festivites.
Festival of Trees - Providence
Holiday festival features a public display of 100 one-of-a-kind professionally decorated trees, showcase of handcrafted wreaths and quilts, elaborate edible Gingerbread Village, music and gift shop.
I can't speak for the Festival of the Trees but the Wickford gig is fantastic. My husband grew up in Wickford, we spend our summers there...it's a dream of a colonial village ('most original colonial homes still lived-in' I believe is it's superlative). It's very walkable. Shops are open throughout the night. It's an incredible way to get into the Christmas/Holiday spirit. Providence, being a city, might not offer the same sort of cozy, walkable event. My vote would be for Wickford but maybe a Fodorite that's gone to the Festival of Trees can offer some scoop?
The Fest of Trees is at the Convention Center: a giant hall filled with decorated Xmas trees. So what?
I'd prefer a stroll through any of the towns that decorate for the season.
