Rhode Island beaches! Please help!!!

Jump to last reply

We are interested in staying on a beautiful beach in Rhode Island. Any suggestions? Have done a little research on the web, and Misquamicut Beach near Westerly seems like the most popular - lots of people, miniature golf, touristy stuff. Would prefer something a little more laid back, but want to be within a short driving distance to the "touristy" stuff, as we will be traveling with our 7 yr. old. Is anyone familiar with Watch Hill (near Misquamicut)? Also, can anyone tell me about Narragansett? Can we find a laid back atmosphere there, yet close to children's activities (biking, for example). Wherever we decide to stay, we do want to take in Newport for a day. Are we better off finding a nice beach location right near Newport?

Sorry for rambling......it's past my bed time. THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE!!
