Returning New Mexicans looking for great New Mexican food in Albuquerque--green chili hot, yet tasty

Well, I think my heading said it all. We lived in NM in the early 70s and many of our old standbys have disappeared. We're going back soon (staying in the NW). We like Sadie's (sent there by a waitress in Old Town), but wonder where else we can get authentic New Mexican food. Any ideas?

Haven't had a lot of experience on the subject, but love La Hacienda in Old Town.

I was steered to Los Cuates by a colleague who used to live in Albuquerque and enjoyed the food.

We have lived in Corrales NM for about a year and the best Mexican food we have had here is at Rancho de Corrales in Corrales. Everyone we take really enjoys the food.

I think all the suggestions are good. It's hard to find a truly bad Mexican food resturaunt in Albuquerque or Santa Fe. Some of my favorites in Albuquerque are:
Los Cuatos on Lomas Ave.
Fiesta's (for breakfast) on Montgomery Ave.
and El Pinto on n. 4th Street

Thanks, all, for the tips. Kathy, when I was there last, a friend took me to lunch at a quaint place with good food kind of like a ranch--could that have been Rancho de Corrales or is it fancier?

Think you may be talking about El Pinto. Best get there early or have reservations:

Another vote for El Pinto. Enjoyed a wonderful meal on its patio in May 1999.
