Restaurant recommendations...Chelsea Market, Korea Town

Hi There,

We are from California and visiting NYC in a few weeks and staying at the Grand Hyatt. Family of 4 with two teenage boys (who can eat anything...and loves good food). We have only 4 days in NYC.

I need some restaurant recommendations in Chelsea Market. All the food places at Chelsea Market sounds so good...but we can only eat so much. What are the places we need to try? We have already been to Morimoto and Sarabeths (although not the Chelsea Market locations).

I will also check Yelp...but is there a Korean restaurant that stands out from the rest?

We are seeing a Broadway show in the afternoon on a Sunday. Thinking about lunch in the Theater District before the show. Already been to Juniors. Need a good brunch / lunch place near O'Neil Theater.

Last time we were in NYC...we had the most delicious meal from a Halal cart, but I forget which one it was! Any recommendations?

As for pizza, we had John's last time and would like to try another place. Maybe Lombardi's? Is it worthwhile to go to Brooklyn and try Grimaldi's? It's just that we have limited time in NYC and may not want to take time to do Brooklyn.

We had a fabulous meal at the Oyster Bar at Grand Central last time and will want to go back.

Thanks so much!

Most of the food places at Chelsea Market are take out, although there are some sit down restaurants. There are also tables and chairs for first come, first serve.

There is no reason to go to Brooklyn for pizza, unless you want to go to Brooklyn. In Manhattan-Motorino, Luzzo's, Co, Keste, and others.

For a most different dining experience try Hangawi in Manhattan K-Town. But please google it and read about it first as it not for everyone.

New in Chelsea Market is Dizengoff, named after street in Tel Aviv, just opened by the owners of Zahav in Philadelphia. Modern Israel food, lots of hummus and salads. Their cookbook won the James Beard award this year. I plan to go soon but expect it will be crowded.

For pizza, do this for your theatre district meal; this place on West 50th near 8th is the sibling of Keste:

By the way, there are much better places for pizza in Brooklyn than Grimaldis.

Thank you all! Great idea to do pizza on theater day. I was just looking at the Lobster Place online. Have anyone done the omakase there? Will have to try the lobster roll.

Hangawi in K-Town looks delicious. Such a unique concept. I think my family will want a more traditional place with grilled meats though.

The Lobster Place always sushi and seafood salads too.
The Green Table in Chelsea Market serves organic food, wines and spirits. This is a sit down restaurant. As mentioned above, most of the places are take out but you can have a picnic by the river.

Having eaten at most of the K-Town spots, I'd say either Shilla or Muk Eun Ji. I will offer that neither rises to the level of Park's. New Wonjo does real charcoal if you want. Still not at Park's level.
