We'll be travelling to Spring Green, WI in mid-July and are looking for nearby restaurant recommendations. We'll be spending some time in Madison as well, so we're particularly interested in restaurants that are not in Madison proper. Ideas?
restaurant recommendations near Spring Green, WI?

The Post House in Spring Green has one of the best Friday Fish Frys in the Area. Arthurs has good Prime Rib on Saturday. The Best Burgers are at the Parlor Bar. The Shed in Town is a Nice Casual Restraunt/Bar and has wonderful Pizza. If you are looking for Nostalgia you can go to the old-fashioned drive up A&W--Not fantastic food but fun. The Spring Valley Inn (E of Town) has a good wine selection & italian specials every Sat. Tower Hill State Park to the Southeast, is a small park, but if you are looking for a little history and a nice walk, stop by there.
Near Madison, about 20 min north off Hwy 12 is a small town called Roxbury, they have the Dorf Haus, for good german style food, and the Roxbury Tavern For some of the best Bar dining you will get. In between Madison and Spring Green is the Old Feed Mill in Mazomamie a nice place for dinner.
In Middleton there is a small restraunt called Louisiannes(sp?) that is a very nice place to get dinner-french cajun. My favorite place on the southern edge of Madison is La Paella (Fish Hatchery Rd)for great spanish cuisine.
If you are looking for a special treat, you need to go to Clasen's Bakery in Middleton, a neat experience, homemade breads, rolls, coffee cakes and european specialities, as well as lots of chocolate.
Thank you, thank you Jean! I appreciate your thorough response.
Thanks, Jean, for a post that brought a lump to my throat! I grew up in Middelton, have lived in Chicago for the past 13 years, and still miss my hometown. My parents, who have since also moved out of the area, never missed a chance to hit Clausens, especially when we had overnight guests!
