There are several MacDonald's. They meet ALL the criteria you specified. Or did you have other requirements in mind that we are just supposed to guess?

We don't have criteria or requirements. Just hoped people would share their favorites but I guess not. Probably should look elsewhere for recommendations.

Went to Louisville a few years ago and you'll find some information on eateries I tried while there at the link above. No idea if these are the kind of places that would be of interest.

Also, if you go to Frankfort, Rick's White Light Diner is an excellent example of its kind.

Haven't been to Lexington except the bus station, so can't suggest anything there.

Sorry if my message was off-putting, but actually there's a lot of difference between a fast food hamburger place and a $250 a dinner fine dining place. Trying to guess which of the two or any of thousands of other types of restaurants you're really looking for -- and in what location is just a wild guess on our parts. On the other hand I did mention one of the most popular so it seems like that should be as good a suggestion as any.

By the way' I'm thinking of taking a vacation -- what is your recommendation?

Ignore the snark above but a word of advice - you would get a more relevant response if you include the location in your thread title. "Restaurant Recommendations for Louisville and Lexington" would be more productive. I can't help you as I haven't been to either place.

Tom42, thanks for referring to my remarks as "snark" and then adding your own snark which was to say the same thing I said. If I say it, it's snark -- if you say it -- it's helpful. The point was that there was not enough information to give any valuable answers just as both you and I said.

I had a very nice meal at Proof on Main, in the 21c Museum/Hotel. I would recommend it for an upscale lunch or nice dinner. I was I town on a business trip--the locals seemed to dress up more than what I am used to.

Pats Steakhouse in Louisville was delicious! We were taken there by my husband's client, a local. I believe it is cash or check only for payment, but very good.

SeaF and girlonthego – The menus at Proof on Main and Pat’s Steakhouse look really good plus both have excellent reviews. I appreciate the recommendations. Thank you!

NeoPatrick - I am not above being given suggestions on how to improve a post and actually appreciate Tom42's post. Sometimes it isn't what you say but how you say it.

For what it's worth, I would be willing to give you travel ideas however I doubt you are interested in recommendations from me on where to go on a vacation so I don't get why you made that comment. It was not necessary. Hope your next trip is special.

Great, then you understood my comment that your post would be much better if you gave a few guidelines so that we could offer good suggestions. Hope you have a special trip too and find exactly what you're looking for.

If you like Cuban, try Havana Rumba on Oechsli Ave (they have 3 in town but the atmosphere here is better). They have a great drink selection, the Havana Colada is great. Irish Rover for traditional Irish fare and bar experience. The owner is authentic. Same for the Gasthaus - charming and authentic German restaurant - a little pricey but the food is amazing and her selection of homemade traditional desserts are delicious.

Both Frankfort Avenue and Bardstown Road are pretty much the hub of the restaurant scene in Louisville. Some very nice restaurants downtown too, but parking can be an issue and if you're not familiar with downtown, you don't want to find yourself in the wrong neighborhood/area at night when there tend to be more and more shootings every week.

>>I would appreciate restaurant recommendations for Louisville and Lexington. Thanks for the help!little snarky but you'll get much better input if you give us something to work with.

tom42 hasn't been to either place so my guess is he only posted to stick it to NeoPatrick.

The only 'fine dining' place I've eaten in Lexington is Coles 735 Main which was very good

"tom42 hasn't been to either place so my guess is he only posted to stick it to NeoPatrick."

Bingo! And he does that so well.

And in all fairness, with nothing else to go by, I DID post what is probably the most popular restaurant in all of Lexington and Louisville. Was there a way we should know you didn't want whatever is the busiest or most popular?

You guess wrong janisj. I, along with everyone else, clicked on the thread without knowing what city the OP was asking about. If she had mentioned Louisville and Lexington in the title, I never would have clicked on it because I would know I could provide no assistance. So I suggested to her that in the future she may want to add the name of the city in the title. Sticking it to NeoPatrick for his snotty post was just an added bonus.
