Restaurant in Atlanta - The Abbey?

I will be attending gift market in downtown Atlanta next week...Looking for restaurants in that area for nice relaxed dinner. The Abbey has been recommended - any one been there? Any other ideas?
Thank you

We have always enjoyed the food and setting of this restaurant. My husband proposed to me there many years ago. Am bumping for you so that you may get a more recent opinion as we haven't eaten there in about 3 years (moved).

The Abbey is a longtime ATL restaurant, a converted church which used to have a harpist in the choir loft and waiters in monk robes. Always has had a fine wine list. Have not been there as of late- there are many dining choices, so it's often hard to return to the standards. If you are looking for other possibilities in the Midtown/VA Highland area, maybe South City Kitchen (a restored bungalow serving New Southern cuisine) However, the smaller quarters at SCK may be make it a little more busy/loud at times. Use CitySearch to check out other possibilities by ATL locations. If you are interested in traveling a bit (use MARTA), the board can offer other suggestions. Take a look at MARTA site, itsmarta.com, to plan your way around the city. Good luck at the Gift Mart.

One of our favorites is Aria on West Paces Ferry in Buckhead. Atlanta has many wonderful restaurants to choose from.

Julie,

I, like you, will be attending the Americas Mart in ATL, but in April. Did you stay downtown within walking distance of the Mart? If so, where, and would you recommend it?

Tx,
