Reservations Required For Early May In Sequoia and Kings Canyon NPs?

Jump to last reply

DH and I will be visiting Sequoia and King's Canyon National Parks the first week of May, 2014. Unfortunately we don't know exactly when we will be getting there, since we will be coming from Las Vegas where DH will be playing in a pool tournament and we're planning to leave once he gets kicked out of the tournament. Best case it will be May 2 since that's the last day of the tourney and I'm sure he's gonna win ;) but it could be a day or two earlier. We'll be flying home from Fresno, unless we decide to drive back to Vegas, on either May 8, 9, or 10, depending on how much we decide there is to do/see in the area.

Would we expect to have problems finding lodging in either of those parks at that time of year if we don't have advance reservations? Or would it be safe enough to just wing it when we get there? We do like to move around as the whim strikes us, but we also like to be fairly sure of getting a room for the night.

Thanks!
