The one-way rates between those two cities are usually not very good. Hertz is probably the only one with a decent rate.

Thanks! I was wondering if anyone did it because I had called Enterprise and they do not--I'll check Hertz

I usually use Avis for my one way rentals. They don't charge as much as Hertz for the drop fee. I checked and they do offer a LAS rental to be returned to SLC.

Just a note regarding Enterprise. I have a friend who works for them, and they are one national rental company that almost always refuses to deal with one-way rentals. Most of the others are OK with one ways, and in fact sometimes don't charge extra, depending on the locales. For instance, I did Phila to JFK one way for the standard 24-hour rate.

You should compare all the companies by using a site like www.sidestep.com or expedia, then chose go to the company that had the best rates. It will save you a lot of time searching.

I just plugged these cities into Sidestep with random dates and National was the cheapest, with Hertz and Avis about 25% higher and Alamo about double.

You don't say where in Vegas you'll rent the car, but IF looking/needing to trim costs, it is wise to see if you can rent ELSEWHERE but at the airport, and even return ELSEWHERE but at the (other) airport. Those airport taxes and fees can add staggering charges.

Also, depending upon your (haste)... it wouldn't hurt to go directly from one place to the other, and turn in the original car, opting instead for a new, SLC-only contract at a lower daily rate, and only THEN doing any sightseeing you might have been inclined to do in the SLC area.

In other words:

Sometimes the one-way rental fee per day is, say, $75.

If someone rents for a week at that rate, the cost would be $525. But IF that includes just a 48-hour one-way journey from Vegas to SLC, and additional sightseeing upon arrival, it can pay to turn that car in quickly. incurring perhaps 2 or 3 days @ $75 per... and then renting at perhaps $40 per for the other 4 or 5 days.

(obviously a "weekly" rate changes that example, but it still makes sense with other scenarios)
