I am looking at rental cars from alamo. I have noticed that if I am living in Spain it it $250 cheaper for my trip than if I am living in the united states. The trip is in the US. I am trying to figure out why. Does anybody know? Also, has anybody done this without consequence? Any information helps. Thanks.
Rental Car cheaper if I am EU citizen

Are you sure that quote includes insurance?
I've never heard of a rental car company caring about citizenship. Residency, perhaps, but never citizenship.
This is all about targeted marketing and is a hallmark of a free market economy.
Not terribly different than offering discounts to any other group such as Sr. Citizens, Disney offering FL residents discounts, cruise lines offering special deals to attract snowbirds, etc.
Before the advent of the internet we knew litte about targeted marketing - now you can find out lots of things with just a few clicks.
Marginal brings up a very important point. Many US renters do not take the "optional" insurance since they are covered on their own auto policies or possibly thru their credit card. This does not apply to citizens of non-US countries renting a car in US - so you will have to pay the "optional" insurance of 3 kinds - and this can often double the cost of the car.
J62 may well have it: targeted marketing. For many years, friends in the UK could go to Disney World including admissions, lodging and airfare for far less than we Americans could. On the other hand, we are often eligible for packages there that they cannot qualify for.
You need to check if the price you're being quoted includes all taxes and insurance - which can double the cost of the rental. Americans typically don;t buy insurance , since their own car insurance or credit cards cover them - not so with european insurance or cards.
Or, you just may be getting the benefit of poor economy.
