Rent convertible in Southwest in August?
We may be interested in renting a convertible to travel from Las Vegas to Northern Rim of Grand Canyon to Sedona, and back to Las Vegas in August. Do you have firsthand experience doing the same? Will the heat be unbearable with the top down?

During the day it will be quite hot everywhere but the Northern Rim of the GC. The evenings will be better, especially in the Sedona area. Keep in mind that August is storm season in the Southwest--they come on quickly and the rain can be quite severe. When the storm is finished, it will leave the desert air much cooler--just right for a open air drive. In any event, if it is too hot you can always put the top up and turn on the AC! Have a fun trip.

I haven't done it in that area but have in TX in the summer...Red Mustang convertible, top down, AC on full blast just to make it bearable.
Question is,is it worth the extra money?? Also, typically trunk space is smaller - something to think about when on a trip.

We've rented a Jeep Wrangler with just the bra top in Utah and ran the air conditioner on high and it was fine. The bra top helped keep us out of the sun so we were a little cooler with that.
I'm curious why the N. Rim instead of the S. Rim since you are going to Sedona. Do you plan on stopping at Zion or Bryce?
