We will be traveling through the Redwood National and State Parks in August with a truck camper and want to spend one night in the area. Does anyone have any suggestions on campsites? Electric and water are nice but we don't have to have them for one night. Would prefer something in a quiet wooded area

Whenever searching for a campground, a good place to start is
www.Woodalls.com
They list (pretty much) all private and public campgrounds, and you can search for camps within a specified distance from any city or ZIP code in the U.S. and Canada. You can also filter your search by amenities and types of camping permitted. This company has been in the business of rating campgrounds for decades, so their ratings (you can filter by these, as well) can be trusted.
Here's their list of campground within 25 miles of Klamath, in the heart of the coastal redwoods.

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is a beautiful and awesome (in the true sense of the word) place to camp and explore. Campsites # 48-52 (I think) are nearest the river. This is very far north in California, not far from Oregon. As soon as you know your travel dates you should book/reserve a campsite. Pity you can spend more than one night because it's so worth it.

Thanks PaulRabe & bluestar for your replies. Bluestar, this trip is primarily for a 7 day boat trip in the Great Bear Rainforest as well as traveling in Lower Alaska. On our way up to British Columbia and back to Texas we are trying to pick places we want to stop at that we would like to do a return visit. So I am sure we will be back for a longer visit to the Redwoods. I had seen Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park and was thinking that looked just like what we want. I'll definitely book it this week!
