Recommendations for Bar Harbor
We will be staying in Bar Harbor for for 3 or 4 nights in early September. Could anyone recommend places to stay - preferably with a pool ??
Also, it is feasible to drive from Boston to Bar Harbor in an afternoon or would it be sensible to break the journey and spend a night somewhere else, and if so, where ?
Thanks

Here's a great website for Bar Harbor: http://www.barharborinfo.com/
Click on the accommodations tab and you will find hundreds of places.
I can't imagine it would be anymore than a 5-hour drive from Boston. We were going to drive from NJ but instead decided to fly into Portland and take a rental car.

It's about a 5+ hour-ish drive from Boston to Bar Harbor. Well, my fav place to stay does not have a pool, but I am sure plenty of the hotel chains do. I know the Holiday Inn does, and I also recall that the Fairfield Inn does *not* have a pool.

If possible, avoid the Boston - Bar Harbor drive on Friday afternoon or during the day on Saturday. Traffic will be far worse than you dare to imagine crossing the border into New Hampshire -- the tolls on the NH Turnpike back up for miles on summer weekends.
