My husband and I will be in Newport, RI the last weekend in March to celebrate our wedding anniversary. First time there for both. Can anyone reccommend a really nice place for dinner that isn't too pricey. Thanks in advance.

The Olive Garden is very nice. I think there are several in the Newport area.
I don't have a "nice restaurant" recommendation. But I would suggest 'Scales and Shells' for something more casual. Maybe one of your lunches??? Great seafood, pretty low key. Its my fave in Newport.

Are you joking about suggesting the Olive Garden, where you get unlimited refills of soup and salad, and the average entree costs about $12?
There are a lot of nice seafood restaurants in Newport. You probably can't go wrong in any of them, and since its off-season they're probably reasonably priced and not the slightest bit crowded. But, also don't be surprised if there are a number of them closed for the season.
You might check out www.phantomgourmet.com and see if there are any restaurants listed there.
I'd suggest the White Horse Tavern for your ann. dinner. It is a very old colonial inn with good food. Perhaps it is a little pricey, but it isn't totally outrageous.
One of my favorites is The Cheeky Monkey (though pricey), I also like Puerini's and for casual fare Brick Alley Pub (not just your average pub).
Also, try www.oso.com for restaurant ideas.
Brick Alley is great for casual lunch or sunday brunch. FOr romantic and small, I would try the Black Pearl on Bowen's wharf. They also have a casual bar area for lunch.
Scales and Shells is fantastic. be warned it is cash only and sometimes there is a line to get in.
We had an amazing dinner at the Brick Alley Pub when we were there in September, Black Spagetti with crab and scollops in a cream sauce, it was wonderful. Nothing like our pubs in England, we had to wait for 25 minutes for a table but it was worth it.
