Recomendations for Off-Braodway Plays

We (me, husband, 13 yr odl girl, 16 yr old boy) have reservations to stay in NYC for a few nights btwn. Christmas and New Years Eve. I waited too long to get Broadway tickets, and when I realized my mistake I thought of cancelling the trip. But it looks like we could still get some off-Broadway tickets for that time.

I wanted to see Altar Boyz w/the teens, but I can't get tickets to come up for end of Dec., they only come up through end of Nov. (is it closing?)

Any other recommendations for off-Broadway?

Thanks in advance. I have a good htoel deal and would like to do this trip but we really need/want theater at night.

When you say you can't get tickets for the end of December, I've a feeling you were only checking for discount tickets. Those will NOT be available between Christmas and New Year's.
There are tickets for Altarboz availing at full price. Well, actually more than full price. Tickets for December 26-30 performances are $99.99! Check out either www.altarboyz.com or www.telecharge.com

Sign up at theatermania.com for great discounts--not always the A-list shows, but definitely some good ones. Also try www.playbill.com. Try 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee--it's gotten very good reviews for all ages. Every teen I know has loved Rent--it's been around for a while, so you might be able to get tickets. Blue Man Tubes is also very popular with teens. On the day you want to go, you can always try the TDF booth to see what's available. Christmas week is tough, but you never know!
