quiet suburban hotel near University of Pittsburgh

I am refreshening my post as I received no replies from my earlier one. I am looking for a hotel in a quiet suburban neighborhood within 30 minutes of University of Pittsburgh. Two days I would be commuting during rush hour and the other 2 days would be the weekend, so commuting traffic time is a minor consideration. Most important is that hotel NOT be on busy highway (loud) and that hotel is decent quality. I am staying 5 nights so longer stay places might be appropriate too. thanks, barbfam

You may want to try the Radisson or Quality Suites in the Greenree area of Pittsburgh. Both are on Mansfield Avenue and very accessible to I-376, but do not sit directly on it.

I highly recommend staying at the Residence Inn University/Medical Center in Pittsburgh. It's located in a residential area, so it's quiet. It's right on the edge of the Pitt campus, so you can walk to campus if you like (about 10 minutes or less). It's a good choice for a longer stay because the rooms have full kitchens if you want to cook. They also have a great hot breakfast buffet in the morning and nice receptions on weekday evenings (think meals, not snacks). It also has a good indoor pool and exercise room.

We stayed many times at this property when our daughter was at Pitt.

I also agree with the Residence Inn University Medical Center Pittsburgh recommendation. We have stayed there several times and really like the hotel. It is an easy walk to the Pitt Campus.

Not sure if this site helps, but I came across a site that lists suburban hotels - http://www.minutesfromdowntown.com
