quiet lake within couple hours of Media/Phila.

Although our main vacation (coming up in a couple days) will be on the U.S. west coast this year, I am fortunate to still have some time when we return before going back to work - and I am craving just going off solo for a couple days to a quiet lakeside location, to get away from it all. I don't want to spend a lot of time driving. Haven't lived in this area that long so don't know it well...does anyone know of a quiet lake where I might go for some RandR?

I currently live in Media but since not as many people are likely to be familiar with that, it's about 20 miles sw of center city Philly.

I haven't been here myself, but a lot of my friends love French Creek State Park:

They've got modern cabins--usually not luxurious, but certainly nice and relaxing. And it shouldn't be out of your preferred driving time.

Lakes are not that common up there, although what Amy points out looks good. Have you considered the Chesapeake Bay? I can't suggest a particular place (Elk Neck State park has cabins, I know that), but I would think there would be a lot of options within a couple hours from Media.

The lakes are small but the setting is beautiful at Skytop lodge in the Poconos: www.skytop.com

Thanks for the ideas. French Creek State Park looks lovely but was all booked, I will definitely remember it for future...Skytop is way above my price range tho" I'll keep it in mind for when I strike it rich Actually this time around looking for something quieter...I'm not even sure anymore I have time to do this, but if I do, think I'll keep this one extremely simple, and rent a room at a nearby Quaker spiritual retreat (I'm not Quaker but they let us all in
