Quickest / Best route from French Lick, Ind., to Champaign, Ill.
I'm looking for the best route from French Lick to Champaign, Ill. I'm looking at Google Maps right now and seeing lots of state and US highways but it's hard to tell if any of the highways are 2-lane, 4-lane, 6-lane, etc. Thanks!

I've traveled the Louisville to French Lick route and the road is mostly 2 lanes in the rual sections.
The road is rather curvy as it passes through the hills in that area. Going North, it may flatten out a bit.
Try a actual MAP. The types of road used are drawn differently.

I'd probably take 150 over to Vincennes, then north to Terre Haute where you pick up 63 north to I74 near Covington, west on I74 to Champaign. From east of Vincennes all the way to I74, 150 and 63 are 4-lane.
If you're not familiar with the area, I'd HIGHLY recommend the Beef House restaurant near Covington. Fabulous food. We've been going there for decades, and it's been excellent every time.

OMG you just brought back horrible memories of a family reunion in French Lick. We had reserved a hotel room at some hotel that was supposed to be 4star, yeah right. I should have known it was trouble when we walked into the lobby and the place was in mass confusion. Some old lady screaming about she had called before hand to ask about her dog staying there and the front desk said NO ANIMALS and this lady about had a stroke in the lobby. And another couple were complaining about their room, so when we finally go checked in and went to our room it was horrible. Black mold in the bathroom and a bed for the 1920. Needless to say we ran out of there. Ended up at a baymont inn and it was like a 4 star, especailly the treatment from the staff. I sat in the whirlpool tub while on the phone with American Express filing a complaint and to make sure the hotel wasnt charging me for a stay at that dump.
Good luck on the travels xrea, have a safe trip.

I sincerely apologize for what I'm about to post...but I just can't help myself.
I think I'd reverse the direction and go from Champagne and then to French Lick. How you get from one to the other is up to you.
