Trip Report Quick Trip Report on Savannah

Jump to last reply

Just got back from Savannah yesterday! Mr. B and I basically had one night and one full day in the city. On Saturday night we went down to the river to take part in the Oktoberfest events; ate some middlin' food at one of the so-so restaurants on River street. Had quite a bit of fun just exploring the area and Broughton Street, ending up at Leopold's, splitting a fairly decent sundae. Couldn't ask for better weather.

On Sunday, we had breakfast at Goose Express Bakery- delicious, highly recommended. Then we went on an architectural walking tour with Jonathan Stallcup, who did a great job. Again, highly recommended. We had early dinner reservations so grabbed a quick lunch from the pizza place at the market (Vinnie a Go-Go's?), then went back to wandering. Stopped for a tour of the Davenport House- mistake. Tour guide was very young and not very experienced, and I've been in private homes with better collections. Oh well, the staircase is neat.

Ended with dinner at the Old Pink House- beautiful setting, amazing service, really good food.

We really enjoyed our quick visit to Savannah and hope to come back soon!
